Welcome to the new art room blog. I'm the new recylced Art teacher Mrs Herd, I'm back at AIS after a 6 year break raising my family. I'm excited about being back in my art room and am enjoying sorting out my classroom and meeting all the new students.
My new yr 8's are creating art works based on animals in mythology, they crafted the wonderful dragons you can see in our title picture.
These were inspired by Mrs Dickinson at Naenae Intermediate, when I relieved for her last year.
We are currently painting animals based in New Zealand myths and Legends. Students have to paint their images using only two primary colours and white. We then outline the paintings in a glossy solution of PVA and Indian Ink.
Next week watch out for students with plasters on the fingers, its time for reduction printmaking!
